Græshave church sits in a quaint little village at the flat island Lolland.
The pipe organ in this particular church was built by Povl Gerhard, a local farmer, who throughout his entire life strived to become a professional pipe organ builder. However, he found himself unable to desert the family farm, of which he was the heir. Using the pear trees from his own graden, Povl Gerhard constructed a fully working 8-voiced pipe organ which he proudly presented to the church in 1979. Even with the overall impressiveness of the organ itself, it still contains several sonic artifacts and errors. One of such imperfections, is two notes relatively close in intervals that can be heard with a very wide and surprising stereo perspective. Whilst playing the organ, it is difficult to predict whether the note struck will appear on the left or the right side.
We have strived to capture these imperfections in our recordings.

This part of the work-series contains fluctuating improvisations with a harmonious and naive sound.

About the project "Ø-Værker for Små danske Orgler":
A research and investigation into the spirit of the organs' inner machinery.
The works revolve around small churches on sparsely populated Danish islands. We have spent days in the churches, exploring every corner of the buildings and experiencing the rooms as sensuous spaces. The recordings are close-miked and contains artifacts, fluctuations, harmonics and audible wastes of air from the pipes when changing the voices.
